Dicey Langston : ウィキペディア英語版 | Dicey Langston
Laodicea Langston, also known as Dicey Langston, was born a patriot and grew up on a farm in South Carolina that was concentrated with loyalists. A lot of these loyalists were her friends and family. She acted as a spy for the patriots at the time of the American Revolution. Because most of her friends and relatives were loyalists, Dicey often overheard loyalist plans and attacks. One famous case was when Dicey overheard loyalists talk about an attack at Little Eden. That night Dicey snuck out and warned her fellow patriots about the attack. In order to reach the men she had to cross the flooded Tyger stream, risking her life for the cause. Whenever Dicey found out information about what the loyalists were going to do she would ride her horse to wherever she needed to go to warn the people that were to be affected. She was known as the female Paul Revere for her historic ride that was twice as long as Paul's to warn her brothers of an attack by the "bloody scouts". She died after the war, at age 71 in 1837, in her home in South Carolina.〔http://www.langstonancestry.com/dicey.html〕 When Dicey got older she married Thomas Springfield after the war and together they had a total of 22 children. Dicey and Thomas moved into the Greenville district of South Carolina. Dicey lived there for the rest of her life and died near Enoree Church. Currently in South Carolina there is a charter school named after her who as dedicated its mascot to her image. ==References==
